When researching into different aspects of horror that people found frightening we decided to use Google trends in order to get a timeline of interests. We searched up key words, such as "drowning" to coincide with our theme of water. Here are some of the results we found:

Ghosts:
As you can see from this chart there has been a spike in the interest of ghosts in 2013. We have decided to follow this interest by having a Yuri, or a ghost girl in our film. We feel this idea will allow our film to become more popular as the idea behind it is will interest the believers and the sceptics of ghosts.

Yuri:
Since the spike in 2007 the idea of Yuri has become less popular in the filming industry. Therefore we believe there is a gap in the market for our film. We have decided to bring back the idea of a terrifying Yuri in 2014 to give audiences something new and interesting to fear.

Blood:
As you can see, blood has always been an interest throughout the years. It is iconically used in horror as the more gore in a death, the better. However there has been a slight decrease in the interest in 2013, this is possibly due to the more paranormal films gracing the silver screen. Therefore we have decided to bring back the blood in our horror film. We have decided that our iconic Yuri character will wear a hospital gown covered in blood, making her even more creepy. Also our film includes a blood filled death for one unsuspecting character.

Drowning:
Drowning has always been an important, and sometimes touchy, subject. Therefore i worry that our film may not appeal to a very big audience, due to this very hard hitting idea of a young girls death by drowning. Especially due to the recent decrease in the subject in 2013. However this does mean there is a gap in the market for our film, which could attract audiences with its amazing backstory, rather than its use of touchy subjects.

Water:
Water has always been a popular topic, as it is essential for life and the creation of life. However their have been little or no horror films based on the idea of water. This leaves a gap in the market for our film, which is based on a girl who was drowned and is now seeking revenge. We feel the use of water in a horror movie will spike an interest with people, and might also scare some people into never going near water again.

Revenge:
Revenge has become increasingly popular over the last few years, leading to a rise in the interest of the public. This is perfect as it means that people will be interested in our revenge horror that we are creating. Who doesn't love a good horror about a dead girl coming back from the grave to seek her vengeance on her killers? Due to the rise in interests we will be able to market our film and can guarantee that we will have an interested audience.

Our Film Title:
After deciding our film title we thought it would be useful to look on Google Trends and find out the interests over the years. This is what we found when we typed in Submerged:
As you can see there was a spike in 2005 about the idea of being submerged, however since then there hasn't been much interest in the idea. Although there has been a small increase since 2013. We believe that this gives us the opportunity to market our film idea as there is a gap for us to fill.

After conducting this research we now know that there is a gap in the market for our film to be produced. We also found that due to the specific interests of people our film should be well viewed by audiences all over the world.
